John Webster

John Webster's work is all about light and its evocative properties. Painted in a high-realism style, his works can be divided between two camps. The first being a more objective study of classical architecture modulated by strong daylight; and the second, slightly grittier, more subjective exploration of the theatrical effects of signage and street lighting in urban environments. Both are equally compelling and provocative in their divergent personalities.

Since 1973 Webster has supported himself from the sale of his art. He is represented in private and corporate collections in Canada, the United States, Great Britain and Japan. His work has been purchased by numerous Embassies and High Commissions in Ottawa, Canada.
